Napa Valley 2007 Vintage Retrospective
"I came away from the tasting not just with an appreciation of how incredible 2007 was as a growing season for Napa Cabs but also that this was an important turning-point vintage for the region," Perrotti-Brown explains. "Over a decade on, the best 2007 Napa wines are now shedding their puppy fat and emerging magnificently, demonstrating this was truly a seminal year for Napa Valley Cabernet and serving as a preview of more singular expressions of this great region to come."
Miss Perrotti-Brown delights us with her retrospective tasting and article about the vintage and gives us a chance to show off this library wine we've been keeping under wraps.
Essentially by 2007, many vineyards had been replanted from phylloxera from the 80s/90 and thus were hitting their stride along with individual minded winemakers pursuing the best of what a vineyard can express versus picking for "ripeness." Add in a dry, temperate year and it was, in a word, ideal.
"Freshness, lively acidity, raciness beautifully offsets generally intense flavors and gives them a real drinkabiity."
We couldn't agree more. Celia has worked her magic with our Yount Ridge Vineyards and our library vertical proprietary blends from 2006 through 2011 are released first to members of our wine club. Cheers!
